Borg & Vodder Huse

Borg og Vodder huse

Together with his colleague at Hindsgaul, Anton Borg, he developed one of the first real - predesigned standard houses, and over time they built more than 1,200 of these houses. This was a rather unusual success Vodder achieved in this area. House building makes its own special demand for understanding the environmental and physical needs of the core family. This is precisely an ability, that was one of Vodder’s many strengths.

Background

In the years 1938 to 1958, the Danish state guaranteed loans for the construction of new houses, but at the same time made high demands on the total price of the houses and thereby also on the size of the houses. This meant that the houses were typically built very small. Consquently Vodder and Borg already in 1956-57 saw an opportunity to design houses that met the criteria for government loans launching the "Bachelor house" in 1957, which could also suit a married couple or a small new family. The scarce resources experienced in the 40s and 50s were at the end of the decade replaced by better times with many resources. The government loan scheme therefore stopped, as part of the natural development in society, and at the same time the old city centers in the big cities were renovated. The dream for the families during this period was to have their own car and house.
